Welcome to Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children and Young People.

Welcome to Blanche Nevile School for Deaf Children, where we are privileged to serve as Co-Headteachers. Between us, we have worked at the school for over 20 years and have witnessed first-hand the extraordinary commitment of our students, staff and families in making Blanche Nevile a unique place where every child and young person can thrive.

We are incredibly proud to lead a school that values Deaf identity, celebrates bilingualism and maintains high aspirations for every learner. As qualified Teachers of the Deaf who are fluent in British Sign Language, we are committed to ensuring that communication is at the heart of everything we do.

We are also proud that Laila Doobeh is the school's first Deaf Headteacher, reflecting the community we serve and providing an important example to our young people of what can be achieved. Together, we are committed to creating an ambitious, warm and inclusive environment where every pupil belongs, thrives and is proud of who they are.

At Blanche Nevile, we welcome deaf children from across London. We are proud to have such a rich and diverse community, with children from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, life experiences and family histories. While our pupils bring with them unique identities and perspectives from all over the world, they also share a common bond through their deafness. This shared experience helps to create a strong sense of belonging and contributes to the vibrant culture and diversity that we celebrate throughout our school.

Our aim is to ensure that every child and young person receives the highest quality education and support, enabling them to progress confidently into further education, higher education and employment. We want our pupils to leave Blanche Nevile as confident, resilient and ambitious young people who are ready to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.

We provide a bilingual, child-centred education designed to meet the individual needs of every learner. Our Primary and Secondary departments are co-located with two excellent mainstream partner schools on separate sites within the London Borough of Haringey. This provides valuable opportunities for our pupils to learn, play and achieve alongside their hearing peers while benefiting from the specialist support and Deaf-centred environment of Blanche Nevile. This reflects our bilingual, bimodal and bicultural philosophy: the best of both worlds.

Our high expectations ensure that every child is given the best possible opportunities for their future. We want our pupils to experience success not only in their academic achievements but also through the wide range of enrichment, leadership and extra-curricular opportunities available to them.

We are fully committed to supporting each pupil's emotional and social development and are proud of the strong care, guidance and support we provide. This is one of our greatest strengths as a school and helps to ensure that every child feels safe, valued and understood.

We hope you find our website informative and inspiring. However, the best way to experience Blanche Nevile is to visit us and see our school in action. We would be delighted to welcome you, show you around and share the warm, inclusive and unique atmosphere that makes Blanche Nevile such a special place.
